Skyscrapers, Dubai
Photograph by Catalin Marin, Your ShotEvery year around the month of October, Dubai experiences heavy fog due to the still-high humidity and the falling temperatures. New York City Skyline
Photograph by Jim Richardson, National Geographic

At times, the overall color of a scene can be so different from the way we normally see it that we hardly recognize the place. Seeing lush, green Central Park in a pink fog changes it completely in Jim Richardson’s stunning view, shot from a hotel window. —Annie GriffithsPhoto Tip: Bad weather makes great pictures. It can also make the familiar completely new. So head out in that snowstorm and find ways to shoot in the rain. Celebrate fog and sandstorm and lightning. New pictures await under these conditions.

Point Mugu, California
Photograph by Garret Suhrie, Your ShotAt Point Mugu, near Malibu, California. A self-portrait while shooting with the 4x5, behind me the crashing waves at long exposure looking more like mountain peaks than rocky shoreline.
Point Reyes, California
Photograph by Anton Barmettler, My ShotPoint Reyes, California, near the top of the cliff, under fog. The windswept trees forming a kind of tunnel, the sun piercing through the upper layer of the fog and the limited visibility provide for a very special effect. It appears quite unreal. Kind of spooky, especially considering that there were very few people around.
